Smith and Wallwork has been appointed as civil and structural engineer for The Møller Centre extension project; creating new seminar space, offices, delegate rooms and kitchens. The project is being designed by 3XN Architects in Denmark in collaboration with RH Partnership.
Our design has been developed to enable continued operation of the campus during the construction work. We have designed a steel intensive basement using silent piling techniques to minimise noise and disruption. A load bearing masonry structure sits on top of the steel intensive basement.
Our drainage design sees thrust boring techniques utilised to install a new drain run below the existing building.
Morgan Sindall has been appointed as contractor and construction is due to start in January 2014.
