At the end of 2016 Cambridge University Boat Club completed their new training facility at Ely.

Smith and Wallwork engineered a flood resilient hybrid load bearing masonry and concrete structure on top of which sits an iconic folded plate roof formed in exposed cross laminated timber.

As well as engineering the building Smith and Wallwork were responsible for the civil engineering works design, comprising a new river wall, creating a flood mitigation lagoon, creating a new site access through the flood bank and a new road junction.

A report on the opening of the new centre can be found here.
