2014 has been a busy year for Smith and Wallwork – we managed to work on 35 different projects; as far as Africa and Sweden and back in the UK from Anglesey Abbey to Swindon!

Our 7 live building sites will be joined by 3 more in 2015 and by the end of the year we will have completed 8 projects, equivalent to more than £50m in construction value. By far the project that seemed to attract most interest (and sleepless nights) was the Hover installation in Covent Garden. Smith and Wallwork engineered Alex Chinneck’s amazing public art piece that increased local foot fall by nearly 20%.

Away from the the projects we have continued working closely with Cambridge University on timber research, an usual 3D printing project as well as embarking on a 5 year programme with the new centre for doctoral training. Articles published in the NCE, IStructE Journal and ARQ as well as an interview in the Independant have also kept us busy.

2015 will see the Smith and Wallwork team start with 10 staff with ambitions for new offices, more projects and potentially more gravity defying art installations…
