Building Research & Information have made their 2011-13 Special Issues publications available for download by all.

This noble gesture delivers some great papers (‘New Professionalism’ recommended) and serves to remind us that there is an R&D industry behind the built environment. Too often this R&D work is only available to those in academia, why is EPSRC funded research not open-source – does the money not come from public coffers?

Perhaps the problem lies in the practitioners, on leaving university many seem to lose the thirst for new knowledge instead blaming low fees for churning out the same solutions and details they used on their last 10 projects.
