Ofgem released its consultation this week on plans to invest £22bn in upgrading the UK’s energy networks. Ofgem expects that construction will be the sector to gain most from the investment – possibly up to 7,000 new jobs.

At Smith and Wallwork we think our plans for a radical new pylon design in Scottish timber should form part of that investment, creating a use for much of the pine and spruce that will be ready for harvest in the next 5-10 years. (we entered the RIBA pylon competition when at Ramboll along with Cambridge University and Moses Cameron Williams Architects).
