Katie Symons from Smith and Wallwork contributes to New Civil Engineer article on timber engineering.

The article by NCE’s Dave Parker reports on the latest innovations in timber engineer including seismic resistant timber buildings and a 14 storey timber frame currently being erected in Norway.

Seismic engineering of timber frames is something that Smith and Wallwork are investigating for a 6 storey timber tower in Kigali, Rwanda. The frame will use local eucalyptus, glue laminated to form large fire engineered timber beams and columns.
