Sustainable re-use of construction materials is at the heart of our proposals for a new visitor centre at Hyde Hall for the RHS.

Smith and Wallwork’s design proposes the re-use of existing foundations and ground slabs as well as re-using steel from an existing building on site.

Testing of the existing concrete slabs using radar, coring and probing is complete. Steel testing has involved carefully cutting out sections of the existing frame for lab tests at Cambridge University Engineering Department.

Below are photos from the site cutting of steel samples – many thanks to Nicholls & Sons for their cutting skills!
